Iraq and Lebanon Move Towards Maritime Transport Agreement

Iraq and Lebanon are moving towards a maritime cooperation agreement, with a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) currently under ministerial review.

A ministerial committee has met to examine the draft's provisions, with attendance from the head of the legal department and representatives of the General Company for Maritime Transport, the designated sectoral body. Legal and technical observations were discussed ahead of further procedural steps.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the committee is preparing to submit its report to the Legal Department of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers for review and comment before the MoU process is advanced in accordance with established legal procedures.

The Ministry said the move is part of a broader effort to expand regional cooperation in maritime transport and promote knowledge exchange between the two countries.
