Iraqi Airways to Resume Flights to Iran

By John Lee.

Iraqi Airways is preparing to resume flights to Iran in October, after a suspension that has been in place since March. The flights are expected to depart initially from Najaf International Airport, pending completion of the required regulatory and technical procedures.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the airline has obtained a special exemption allowing it to operate the route. Iranian carriers have been suspended from flying to Iraq since 23rd September, while Iraqi Airways halted its own Iran services in early March as a precautionary measure in response to military escalation.
