Investment Package Planned for Hor Al-Dalmaj

By John Lee.

The Dulmaj [Delmaj] Marsh (Hor Al-Dalmaj) is to be formally promoted as an integrated investment opportunity covering the provinces of Wasit and Diwaniyah.

The National Investment Commission (NIC), in coordination with the investment authorities of both provinces, plans to offer the wetland as a package of development projects designed to activate the local economy.

A meeting chaired by NIC head Adel Dakhil Muhammad al-Yasiri, attended by NIC deputy head Salar Muhammad Amin and Diwaniyah Investment Commission head Dr. Abdul-Razzaq Shubr, reviewed mechanisms for presenting the project. Most of the required regulatory approvals have been completed, and field visits to the site have been carried out.

The planned investment package is expected to include:

  • Tourism facilities
  • Fish farming
  • Economic zones
  • Dairy processing plants
  • Other investment activities

A shared data platform containing technical and environmental specifications is also being prepared to give potential investors a clear overview of the opportunity.
