The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq (IHEC) has announced the complete results of parliamentary elections in Kurdistan Region yesterday during a press conference in Erbil.
The Kurdistan Region held its fourth round of parliamentary elections on 21 September 2013. It included 1,129 candidates - 336 of them women, and over 2,800 international observers from 192 countries. The total turnout was almost 74%.
The Chairman of IHEC, Mr Sarbast Mustafa, said that out of the 111 seat parliament, 11 seats are allocated for the minorities as a fixed quota; 5 for Turkoman, 5 for Chaldean, Assyrian and Syriac, and 1 for Armenians.
According to the minimum 30% quota, 34 members in the next legislature will be women.
Final results of the Kurdistan Region 2013 Parliamentary Elections
- Kurdistan Democratic Party – 743,984 votes / 38 seats
- Gorran Movement – 476,173 votes / 24 seats
- Patriotic Union of Kurdistan – 350,500 / 18 seats
- Kurdistan Islamic Union – 186,741 votes / 10 seats
- Kurdistan Islamic Group – 118,575 votes / 6 seats
- Islamic Movement of Kurdistan – 21,834 votes / 1 seat
- Socialist Democratic Party – 12,501 votes / 1 seat
- Kurdistan Communist Party – 12,392 votes / 1 seat
- Toilers Party – 8,681 votes / 1 seat
