Iraq Stock Exchange

  • ISX launched a new platform for unlisted joint stock companies (OTC) on Jan. 2, 2024. On Jan. 3rd, 2024, ISX announced the requirements regarding the listing, depositing shares, and trading on the OTC platform. For the details, please click here.
  • According to the ISC decision on Dec. 24, the ISX transferred Modern Animal & Agricultural Production (AMAP) from the undisclosed capital market (UCM) to the regular market (RM) starting Jan. 2, 2024. ISX requested AMAP to explain why the prices touched the higher limit on Jan. 3 and Jan. 4.
  • According to the ISC decision on Dec. 24, the ISX transferred AL-Wiaam for Financial Investment (VWIF) from the undisclosed capital market (UCM) to the non-regular market (NRM) starting Jan. 2, 2024.
  • The AGM of Iraqi Islamic Bank (BIIB) has been postponed to Jan. 5 due to a lack of quorum.
  • Investment Bank of Iraq (BIBI) has completed the legal procedures for the capital increase through a 2.86% bonus issue to IQD257.1 bn.

  • Iraqi Agricultural Products Marketing Meat (AIPM) resumed trading on Jan. 3 after holding its AGM on Dec. 24 in which they discussed and approved 2022 annual financial statements and decided to distribute IQD0.08 cash dividend per share, corresponding to a 1.0% dividend yield.

Iraqi Stock Market nearly Doubles in 2023

The Rabee Securities Iraq Stock Exchange (ISX) index has closed the year up more than 97 percent in USD terms.

According to date from Rabee Securities, the biggest winner was Al-Ameen Estate Investments, which gained more than 500 percent, while the biggest loser was National Islamic Bank, which more than halved in value:

  • ISC approved the listing and trading of reconstruction bonds which was issued on 10/10/2023 by the Ministry of Finance, worth IQD1.5 trln (available in two categories). The first category is for IQD500,000 with an annual interest of 6% for two years (paid every six months), and the second category is for IQD1.0 mn with an annual interest of 8% for four years (paid every six months).
  • ISX will launch a new platform for unlisted joint stock companies (OTC) on Jan. 2, 2024.

Iraq Stock Exchange

  • A cross transaction occurred on 15.5 bn shares of Al Mustashar Islamic Bank (BMUI) on Dec. 21, valued at IQD15.5 bn and corresponding to 6.2% of BMUI's capital.
  • Al-Mansour Bank (BMNS) decided in its AGM held on Dec. 19 to increase the paid-in capital from IQD250.0 bn to IQD300.0 bn through a 16% rights issue and a 4% bonus issue.
  • Al-HiLal Industries (IHLI) and National Chemical & Plastic Industries (INCP) were moved to the Undisclosed Capital Market (UCM) and resumed trading on Dec. 21.
  • Iraqi Agricultural Products (AIRP) announced that the company will stop distributing dividends from Dec. 24, 2023 until Jan. 6, 2024.
  • International Development Bank (BIDB) has completed the legal procedures for the capital increase through a 20% bonus issue to IQD300.0 bn.
  • The ISC did not approve the request of Al-Sadeer Hotel (HSAD) for an additional extension period of 1 year to submit its 2022 annual financial statements because the company sent the final accounts to the office financial control outside the period referred to in ISC's letter.

  • A cross transaction occurred on 6.68 bn shares of Al-Mansour Bank (BMNS) on Dec. 7, valued at IQD6.75 bn and corresponding to 2.7% of BMNS's capital.
  • A cross transaction occurred on 7.1 bn shares of National Islamic Bank (BNAI) on Dec. 7, valued at IQD3.5 bn and corresponding to 2.8% of BNAI's capital. Separately, subscription on the capital increase of BNAI through 19.9% rights issue from IQD251.0 bn to IQD301.0 bn issue ended on Dec. 6.
  • Fitch Ratings has affirmed Sumer Commercial Bank PSC's (BSUC) Long- and Short-Term Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) at 'RD' (Restricted Default) and Viability Rating (VR) at 'f'. Fitch expected a weakening of the bank's business, risk and financial profiles, particularly if the CBI ban was not lifted in the short term. Therefore, Fitch had maintained the negative outlooks on BSUC's business profile, risk profile, earning and profitability and capitalisation and leverage. Fitch will no longer provide ratings or analytical coverage for BSUC.

  • On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers announced its approval of the Draft Securities Law, after it was carefully reviewed by the State Council. The law was approved in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and was officially transferred to the House of Representatives for consideration and discussion.   • A cross transaction occurred on 500.0 mn shares of Ameen Al-Iraq Islamic Bank (BAME) on Nov. 20, valued at IQD500.0 mn and corresponding to 0.2% of BAME's capital.
  • A cross transaction occurred on 17.5 bn shares of Al Mustashar Islamic Bank (BMUI) on Nov. 23, valued at IQD17.5 bn and corresponding to 7.0% of BMUI's capital.
  • The International Islamic Rating Agency (IIRA) announced that the International Islamic Bank (BINT) obtained a grade of (B-) internationally and a grade of (BBB) locally for the fiscal year 2022. Iraq Stock Exchange

  • ISC's board of directors reviewed the performance of the joint-stock companies listed on the Undisclosed Companies Markets (UCM) and decided to warn them to submit the legal requirements and financial statements until the date of 12/31/2023, otherwise, legal measures will be taken against them.
  • Al Janoob Islamic Bank (BJAB) invited its shareholders to subscribe on 260.0 bn shares starting Nov. 13 from the capital increase to IQD510.0 bn through 104% rights issue. The subscription period is no less than 30 days and no more than 60 days.
  • Warka Bank for Invest. and Finance has completed the legal procedures for the capital increase to IQD271.6 bn.

Stocks that resumed / will resume trading:

  • Sumer Commercial Bank (BSUC) will resume trading on Nov. 19 after holding its AGM on Nov. 12 in which they discussed and approved 2022 annual financial statements and decided to distribute IQD0.01 cash dividend per share from the profits of previous years, corresponding to an 8.3% dividend yield. The opening price will be IQD0.11 per share.

Iraq Stock Exchange

  • Iraq is considering raising the percentage allowed for foreigners to own listed companies from 49% to 100%, according to the head of the Iraqi Securities Commission, Faisal Al Haimus. Al-Haimus said on the sidelines of his participation in the fourteenth Turkish-Arab Economic Forum in Istanbul, that the step, which came at the request of foreign investors, will be in the new law of the Securities Commission, which was submitted to the relevant authorities. He added, "The General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers is currently studying the law, to be sent after that to the Council of Ministers and then to Parliament to vote on it to enter into force as soon as it passes which will be an important opportunity to stimulate foreign investment to the country."
  • The Chairman of the Securities Commission met with a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government. During the meeting, the two parties discussed future plans to develop the securities sector in Iraq in general and to enhance cooperation between the Commission and the Kurdistan Regional Government in this regard.   • National Islamic Bank (BNAI) invited its shareholders to subscribe on 50.0 bn shares starting Nov. 5 from the capital increase to IQD301.0 bn through 19.9% rights issue. Subscription period is no less than 30 days and no more than 60 days.
  • Al Janoob Islamic Bank (BJAB) invited its shareholders to subscribe on 260.0 bn shares starting Nov. 13 from the capital increase to IQD510.0 bn through 104% rights issue. The subscription period is no less than 30 days and no more than 60 days.
  • The Iraqi Company for Deposit Insurance will hold its AGM on Nov. 14 to discuss and approve 2021 annual financial statements, increasing the paid-in capital through bonus issue, listing its shares on the ISX, and electing new board members.
  • ISC is requesting Iraqi for Seed Production (AISP) to disclose information regarding the company's activity and a preliminary report on the financial statements and whether there is a material impact that affects the company's activity and its continuation of trading.

  • New shares of Al-Hamraa for Insurance (NHAM) from the capital increase through a 257% rights issue to IQD25.0 bn resumed trading on Nov. 6.
  • United Bank (BUND) resumed trading on Nov. 7 after disclosing its FY22 financial results.
  • Erbil Bank for Investment & Finance (BERI) resumed trading on Nov. 8 after holding its AGM on Oct. 7 in which they discussed and approved 2022 annual financial statements.
  • Fallujah for Construction Materials (IFCM) resumed trading on Nov. 9 after holding its AGM on Nov. 2 in which they discussed and approved 2020 & 2021 annual financial statements and electing five original and five alternative board members.
