Forty-Nine roads and bridges projects were finalized in Karbala with a total cost of around $19.6 million, a member of the Karbala Provincial Council said on Saturday.
“The projects were executed by local companies and contractors,” Dr. Abbass Nasser Hassani told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He said that the projects were funded by the 2009 budget to develop regions.
The holy city of Karbala lies 110 km southwest of Baghdad.
