A woman was killed and 11 others injured in a collision of four civilian vehicles south of Kirkuk city on Sunday, a security official said.
“Three civilian vehicles collided and a fourth one overturned on the main road linking Taza district to Daqquq district, (35 km) south of Kirkuk, leaving one woman killed and 11 others wounded,” Brig. Sarhad Qader, the director of the Kirkuk Districts’ Police Department (KDPD), told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” Qader noted.
He added that the victims were apparently out to celebrate the Nowruz festival.
Kirkuk, a city of mixed Kurdish, Turkmen and Arab population, lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
