On Wednesday, a local company began work on the biggest drinking water project in Basra, a local official said.
“A local company started today to implement the al-Khatwa water project, the biggest drinking water project in the al-Zubeir district in Basra,” Abbas Rasham, the district’s mayor, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The project will contribute in reducing the scarcity of water in al-Zubeir district by 60-65%,” he added.
“The project will be implemented at a cost of 2 billion dinars [$1.6m] by the municipalities ministry within 4 months,” he said.
