According to a report from AKnews, the Media director of the Iraqi ports announced on Wednesday that Maaqel [Maaqal] port in Basra has established all the facilities required to receive the first shipment of oil equipment for Shell's Majnoon oil field in north of the province.
Anmar al-Safi told the agency that Iraq's Transport Ministry has approved the provision of facilities to the oil companies so that ships can dock directly at Maaqal.
The ministries of oil and transportation held a joint conference earlier this month to discuss the increasing Iraqi oil production during the next phase.
Iraq has several ports in Basra province, 550 km south of Baghdad, including Umm Qasr, Abu Flus , Khor al-Zubair, Faw, Khor Abdullah and al-Amaya oil ports.
