As Iraq digs its way out of years of war and political unrest, newer and better ideas are essential to the country's recovery. TEDxBaghdad provides that platform and aims to keep the conversation going on TEDxBaghdad.com by posting videos from the conference, articles by more leading Iraqi voices and hosting live blogs.
Registration will be through the registration form on the website of www.TEDxBaghdad.com.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader.
Along with two annual conferences - the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh, UK each summer - TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
About TEDx: x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks, videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in small group settings. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized, albeit subject to certain rules and regulations.
In 2011, 1579 TEDx events took place in 42 languages and 96 countries.
