Anbar Sues Shahristani for Blocking Phosphate Plant Investment

According to AKnews, Anbar council has taken a court action against Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, Hussein al-Shahristani (pictured), for not agreeing to a proposed investment in what it calls 'metal phosphate cement plants' in the province.

The Deputy PM did not approve the project and instead referred it to the Ministry of Oil, but officials in Anbar believe this to be illegal as Anbar council has control of the project, which it and government bodies in Baghdad approved.

Anbar council wants to set up laboratories for the production and concentration of phosphate ores and phosphoric acid, in addition to building three cement plants.
