US Drug Official Visits Iraq

Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) William R. Brownfield traveled to Iraq this week to discuss INL’s ongoing partnership with the Government of Iraq to develop its law enforcement and judicial sectors.

Assistant Secretary Brownfield met with senior government officials in Baghdad and Erbil and visited the Baghdad Police College Annex, the Judicial Development Institute (JDI), and the Erbil Police College.

At the Judicial Development Institute, he commemorated the full handover of the Judicial Development Institute to the Government of Iraq, reaffirming our shared commitment to a strong, independent judiciary.

Assistant Secretary Brownfield also met with senior officials at the Ministry of Interior to discuss our mutual commitment to police development and priorities going forward.
