In March the Iraq Club celebrated its 1st anniversary with a fun and informative event held in Dubai Marina.
The anniversary event was attended by 100 senior energy and infrastructure professionals actively engaged in Iraq. The Club was honoured with a presentation by His Excellency, Ismat Ageed Siddiqi, Ambassador-Consul General to UAE–Dubai. Kyle Stelma, Managing Director of Dunia Frontier Consultants, launched the Iraq Club update, a regular feature providing an engaging summary of the latest must-know changes for business leaders involved in Iraq. His Excellency praised the value of the Iraq Club in bringing people together.
The Iraq Club, in its first year, has firmly established itself as a must-attend event in Dubai. Iraq Club co-founder Leanne Case said:
"The success of the Iraq Club has been phenomenal and has shown the strong demand for Iraq-related events that are business focussed, and serve the needs of people already actively engaged in the market rather than those that are just entering it".
"The value of the event is in the relevance of membership. Guests must register with us before the event and are vetted for relevance. Dubai is full of networking events but the Iraq Club’s philosophy is focussed on bringing together relevant senior actors in the Iraq energy and infrastructure fields so that they can do business, exchange information and identify opportunities".
The Iraq Club was founded in 2012 by William Wakeham, CEO of specialist insurance brokers AAIB Insurance and Leanne Case, Social Performance Leader for Coffey in the Middle East. Based on their own experiences of working in Iraq for a number of years, they were struck by the large number of companies operating in Iraq heavily supported by bases in the UAE, and the benefit of bringing this network of companies together. Mr Wakeham said:
"The value of being able to easily access the right network when doing business in challenging environments should not be underestimated; the Iraq Club is an invaluable resource."
The next Iraq Club event will be held on the 1st of May. The Iraq Club can be contacted by email at [email protected]
