Southern Gas Corridor is Open for Iraq

Azerbaijan's foreign minister, Elmar Mammadyarov (pictured), has said that the Southern Gas Corridor project is open for Iraq to transport its gas to the European markets. Addressing a news conference, he said:

"It's a huge project ... and it's open if Iraq is also interested in delivering their own natural gas.

"The project is there, so if any other countries ... want to join the Southern Gas Corridor, including Iraq, who already expressed some interest in this project, we are ready to start negotiations."

The Southern Gas Corridor is an initiative of the European Commission for the gas supply from Caspian and Middle Eastern regions to Europe.
