A team of twelve firefighters from Shell's Majnoon oilfield arrived at the International Safety Training College (ISTC) in Malta this week for an intensive training programme.
The group was accompanied by Mr. Bernard Carter, a senior manager at Shel Iraq, who will be observing the training and filming the practical exercises, which utilise large heavy-duty props and real fire scenarios.
Andrew Gilravey, College Director at ISTC Malta, said:
"These are the first of many courses that the firefighters will attend in Malta. The courses are part of a package that will raise the level of the firefighting teams of Majnoon, up to a standard that conforms with European, UK and NFPA (American) prerequisites."
