Fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, ISIS) have seized the northern part of Nineveh province, which includes Iraq's second largest city Mosul.
Iraq's prime minister is asking parliament to impose a state of emergency after government buildings including an airport were seized.
