F-16 Delivery "at Risk of Cancellation"

By John Lee.

The Iraqi government is reportedly threatening to cancel the strategic framework agreement (SFA) it signed with the US in 2008, because of a delay in the supply of 36 F-16 fighter jets.

Air Force Technology cites a U.S. official as saying that the plan to deliver the F-16s and Apache helicopters is on hold until the security situation in Iraq improves.

The jets were expected to be delivered between September and the autumn of 2017. Lockheed Martin, which makes the F-16, said just weeks ago that the first planes were ready to be shipped from Texas.
