International Conference on Peace and Security on Iraq (09/15/14)

President Hollande spoke by phone with the President of Iraq, Fouad Massoum. He then spoke with the Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi, whom he congratulated on the inauguration of the new Iraqi government.
In agreement with the Iraqi authorities, the President confirmed that an international conference on peace and security in Iraq would be held in Paris on September 15. It will bring together the regional and international partners who endorse this objective and are helping to bring it about. It will be inaugurated jointly by President Hollande and President Massoum.
Ahead of this conference, President Hollande will visit Iraq on September 12. He offer the Iraqi authorities France’s support to effectively combat ISIS terrorists, protect civilian populations and restore the rule of law throughout Iraq’s territory.
