Indian Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. George Raju yesterday visited the KRG Department of Foreign Relations to discuss the opening of Indian consulate general in Erbil.
Ambassador Raju announced the decision of the government of India to open its consulate general in Erbil, capital of Kurdistan Region.
He said that India realizes the stability and prosperity of the Kurdistan Region and desires to be a reliable partner for the people and leadership of the Kurdistan Region.
Minister Falah Mustafa thanked Ambassador Raju for the decision of the government of India to open its consulate general in Erbil and expressed the readiness of the DFR to fully support and assist the process of opening the office.
Both sides agreed that the opening of the office would be a stepping stone to further expand and deepen bilateral ties.
