Commenting on choosing Nadia Murad as an Ambassador for the Survivors of Human Trafficking, The minister said:
"With her suffering, every Iraqi woman, just like Iraqi man, is representing all the grievances. With her efficiency, she represents all the efficiencies. Ms Nadia Murad has already suffered a lot. Yet, with her strength, she managed to surpass this ordeal."
Concerning the liberation of Mosul, the minister denoted:
"The Iraqi armed forces are on the outskirts of Mosul, and they shall be managed to liberate the city. Al-Shirqat city has been liberated, and it is now under the control of the Iraqi armed forces, just like Qayyarah. We, God willing, shall liberate Mosul before the end of 2016."
In turn, Ms Zainab Bangura commended the efforts of the Iraqi government in field of combating sexual violence and she highlighted the importance of the governmental institutions' role to secure the success of this convention, referring:
"Signing the convention came after a serious of negotiations and meetings with the Iraqi side, which showed a great desire to cooperate in this field. This convention shall include starting data documentation and collecting evidence of sexual violence and terrorism crimes committed against all Iraqi components in Iraq."
The Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Mission to Iraq Mr Ján Kubiš welcomed the signature of the convention between Iraq and the United Nations, emphasising the importance of working under the umbrella of UNAMI so as to implement the articles of this convention, asserting the continuous support of UNAMI for the Iraqi government in all fields.
