Iraq's Oil Minister, Hayan Abdul Ghani, announced plans to open 10 gas exploration blocks for investment in a new licensing round.
According to the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA), Abdul Ghani revealed that the ministry will present these opportunities to specialized companies during an upcoming visit to the United States, targeting global American firms.
The announcement follows the completion of contracts for 14 out of 29 blocks and fields offered in previous licensing rounds, with the remaining gas blocks set for the new round.
Abdul Ghani also highlighted the Ministry's progress in gas projects, including the drilling of a 1,000 million cubic feet per day (Mcf/d) exploratory well in the Anz block and the launch of the Halfaya gas investment project with a capacity of 300 Mcf/d. A new gas investment project at the Al-Fayhaa [Block 9] oil field, with a capacity of 125 Mcf/d, is expected to begin by the end of the year.
