Iraq's Ministry of Oil has announced the completion of its first multilateral oil well in the Southern East Baghdad field, using modern drilling technology.
Deputy Minister for Extraction Affairs, Bassem Mohammed Khudair, highlighted the rapid drilling and doubled production capacity achieved at a low economic cost.
The project, operated by China's EBS on behalf of China ZhenHua Oil, is part of Iraq's broader strategy to enhance oil and gas production for economic growth and energy needs. Current production from the field is 40,000 barrels per day, with future plans for expansion. The field supplies oil to the Quds power plant and Dora refinery in Baghdad.
