Iraq and Iran to create new Economic City

By John Lee.

Iraq and Iran have agreed to allocate 2,000 dunams [200 hectares; 500 acres] in Zurbatiyah for the creation of a new economic city.

The announcement followed discussions today between Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani and the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, which focused on the border industrial zones, which are being developed in three provinces: Wasit, near the city of Gassan, Maysan, and Basra.

Zurbatiyah is located in Wasit Governorate, close to the border with Iran
