The Ministry of Oil has completed the two-dimensional (2D) seismic survey programme west of Khudher Al-Mai [Khider al-Mai] in Muthanna province, exceeding its target with a completion rate of 103 per cent.
The work was carried out by the Third Seismic Team under the Oil Exploration Company, covering a total distance of 2,437.65 km and 48,749 energy points. The project is part of the company's wider seismic surveying programme for 2025 and is intended to support the identification of new oil and gas structures.
The company's Director-General, Dr Osama Raouf, visited the site and praised the team's performance, noting that the results will support future exploration plans and contribute to national economic development.
As part of the visit, team members were awarded shields and certificates of appreciation, along with the Production Cup for the second quarter of 2025, which is granted under an internal competitive performance programme among seismic teams.
UAE's Crescent Petroleum signed a contract to develop Khudher Al-Mai in the fifth round of energy licences.
