Iraqi-Korean Partnership Produces 360 Kia Field Vehicles

By John Lee.

The State Company for Automotive Industry (SCAI), under the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has completed production of the first batch of 360 single-cabin Kia field vehicles, assembled entirely by Iraqi hands in partnership with Kia Motors of South Korea.

The company's Director General, Dana Saadallah Saeed, announced that the vehicles, model Kia 2700, were fully assembled at the Babylon Car Production Plant using eight main production stages, including chassis assembly, oil and fuel stations, cooling gas systems, body assembly, and final technical and engineering inspections. Each vehicle also underwent a specialised road test under direct quality control supervision to ensure compliance with approved standards.

This batch is the first of 1,000 vehicles planned for assembly in the coming period. The Director General highlighted that Kia field vehicles are in strong demand locally due to their durability and high efficiency, serving both citizen and industrial needs.

The company has previously assembled 2,744 Kia sedans (including Optima, Carnes, Picanto, Cerato models) and 3,044 Kia pickup vehicles. This achievement continues the company's efforts to expand production lines and strengthen global partnerships, adding value to Iraq's automotive industry.
