Half Tonne of Gold Imported via Baghdad Airport in 2 Days

More than half a tonne of imported gold has entered Iraq via Baghdad International Airport (BIAP) over the past two days, according to the Ministry of Planning.

The shipments, comprising jewellery and bullion, totalled approximately 300 consignments.

The Ministry stated that inspection and hallmarking procedures are being carried out continuously to facilitate processing and avoid delays. Officials from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) are overseeing operations at the airport.

Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi, spokesperson for the Ministry, said that the head of the organisation, Dr Fayyad Mohammed Abd, is present on-site to supervise inspection teams and ensure compliance with standards.

The Ministry added that inspection units are operating around the clock to accelerate procedures and maintain the flow of incoming shipments.
