The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities has opened the Sayyid Mohammed Mohammed Sadiq Al-Sadr Bridge in Diwaniyah, improving connectivity and traffic flow within the city.
The bridge, inaugurated by the Director General of Roads and Bridges Hussein Jassim Kadhim in the presence of Diwaniyah Governor Abbas Al-Zamili, has a total length of 200 metres including approaches and a width of 21 metres.
Project specifications include:
- Two carriageways, each 8 metres wide for opposing traffic directions
- Central median and pedestrian walkways
- Connection between Al-Uruba 2 district and Celebration Square (Diwaniyah Corniche)
- Crossing over the Diwaniyah River
Officials said the bridge will reduce congestion and improve vehicle movement across the city by linking key urban areas to the internal road network.
