Seismic Survey Complete at Qurnain Block in Najaf

The Iraqi Oil Exploration Company has completed a 2D seismic survey at the Qarnain block in Najaf province, finishing 31 days ahead of the scheduled timeline.

The survey covered 2,850 kilometres and recorded 47,500 energy points, achieving a completion rate of 108 per cent. Work began on 10 October 2025 and concluded on 15 March 2026, spanning 192 days.

The project was carried out by the second seismic team on behalf of the Midland Oil Company (MdOC), under a contract with Qurnain Petroleum Company (QPC), a subsidiary of China's ZhenHua Oil operator of the Qurnain block.

The completion was announced at a ceremony attended by the Governor of Najaf, the head of the provincial council, the director of QPC, and the chairman of the joint management committee for the block. Osama Raouf Hussein, Director General of the Oil Explorations Company, addressed the event.
