Iraq's Ministry of Trade has held talks with South Korea's Ambassador to Iraq, Lee Jun-il, on expanding bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Trade, the meeting covered the current state of Iraq-South Korea relations and ways to develop them across economic and commercial sectors. Discussions also addressed available investment opportunities and ways to encourage South Korean companies to increase their presence in the Iraqi market and participate in development projects.
Minister of Trade Dr Mustafa Nizar al-Ani said the ministry was keen to strengthen cooperation with South Korea and benefit from its advanced expertise in industrial, technological and investment fields, highlighting the importance of expanding trade volumes in line with both countries' aspirations.
The meeting also addressed South Korea's participation in the 50th Baghdad International Fair, with the minister inviting South Korean companies to take part in the event as a platform for connecting local and international businesses and showcasing the latest products and technologies.
Ambassador Lee expressed his country's desire to strengthen economic relations with Iraq and develop cooperation across various sectors, affirming South Korean companies' interest in exploring available investment opportunities and participating in Iraqi economic events.
