A reconstruction and investment dialogue has been held in Baghdad to discuss future development priorities and investment opportunities for the capital.
The meeting was convened by the French Iraqi Business Council (IFBC) at the headquarters of Baghdad Mayoralty and hosted by Baghdad Mayor H.E. Eng. Ammar Mousa Kadhim.
The delegation was led by Eng. Adham Al Fakhar, Advisor to the Prime Minister, and included IFBC members. Discussions focused on long-term public-private partnership opportunities across key sectors, including:
- Urban services and infrastructure
- Smart parking systems
- Recreational and entertainment destinations
- Alternative main road networks
- Waste recycling and environmental sustainability projects
- Economic cities and business centres
The discussions also covered initiatives to preserve Baghdad's historical and cultural identity, including a proposal to establish the Baghdad Notables Salon under the chairmanship of the Mayor of Baghdad, along with efforts to restore historic names of districts, neighbourhoods, and streets.
The French Iraqi Business Council was established following the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Iraq and France, signed by the Prime Minister of Iraq and the President of France on 26 January 2023.
