Iraq's Ministry of Planning has held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank to discuss cooperation on supporting entrepreneurship, empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and creating a more efficient and attractive business environment for investment.
According to a statement from the Ministry, Sunday's meeting discussed a proposed programme aimed at improving the business environment by analysing the legal and regulatory obstacles facing entrepreneurs and putting forward proposals to address them.
The programme also includes a capacity-building component, developing the skills of trainers and entrepreneurs to enable them to establish sustainable and competitive businesses, alongside promoting a culture of innovation in line with national development priorities.
The two sides agreed to continue coordination to complete the necessary procedures and put the programme into effect.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs Dr Maher Hammad Johan, Deputy Minister for Administrative Affairs Dr Hanaa Ismail Al-Asadi, and a World Bank delegation headed by Gharam Al-Qastalani, in addition to heads of the relevant departments within the Ministry.
