An agreement has been reached with Japanese firm JGC Corporation to resume work on Iraq's fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) project.
According to the Ministry of Oil, the deal was concluded by a ministerial negotiating committee led by ministry adviser Dr. Hamid Younis, with South Refineries Company (SRC) Director General Hussam Hussein Wali among its members.
JGC has begun transferring personnel to the project site and resuming operational preparations. Once complete, the project is expected to add:
- 5 million litres per day of petrol
- Approximately 7 million litres per day of gas oil
- 400 tonnes per day of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)
