Progress on Establishing Iraqi-Malaysian Business Council

Iraq and Malaysia have discussed steps to expand economic cooperation and increase bilateral trade, including preparations for the ninth session of the Iraqi-Malaysian Joint Committee in Baghdad.

Riyadh Fakher al-Hashimi, Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations at the Ministry of Trade, met with Malaysia's Chargé d'Affaires in Iraq, Nirmal Shunmugam, according to the ministry.

The talks also covered progress on establishing an Iraqi-Malaysian Business Council to strengthen ties between the private sectors of both countries.

The two sides discussed ways to increase Malaysian companies' participation in the 50th Baghdad International Fair, scheduled for 2027.
