Iraq and Australia Eye Closer Trade and Investment Ties

Iraq's Ministry of Trade has held talks with Australia's Ambassador to Baghdad, Glenn Miles, on expanding bilateral trade and investment relations. According to the ministry, Minister Mustafa Nizar Jumaa said Iraq was ready to facilitate access for Australian companies to the Iraqi market and to remove obstacles to their entry.

Miles indicated that a number of large Australian companies, particularly in oil, energy, and food products, are interested in operating and investing in Iraq. He expressed Australia's desire to strengthen the presence of its companies and investors in the country.

Both sides discussed ways to improve the business environment for Australian firms and to expand private-sector cooperation between the two countries.
