Iraq's Ministry of Transport has held discussions with Huawei and Uruk Engineering Services in China on the potential adoption of smart port technologies and digital logistics solutions.
A ministry delegation attended the Huawei Connect 2026 exhibition in Shanghai and made a field visit to Tianjin Port to observe its smart port and advanced automation systems. Meetings were held with Huawei's transport sector specialists covering digital transformation, logistics development, and operational efficiency.
It was agreed that a specialist Huawei team will visit the Directorate of Maritime Transport and Ports in Iraq to assess technical and operational requirements and identify areas where modern technology solutions could be applied.
The visit was undertaken at the direction of Transport Minister Wahab Salman Mohammed.
