Iraq's Ministry of Trade is working with the International Trade Centre (ITC) to develop a national trade policy and a National Trade and Investment Strategy. The two sides met to discuss the key sectors and themes to be covered by both documents, and to agree on methodology and work phases.
According to the Ministry of Trade, the meeting was led on the Iraqi side by Dr. Malik Khalaf al-Durai'i, Director General of the Private Sector Development Department.
Both parties emphasised the need for the documents to be grounded in analysis of economic and trade realities, identifying challenges, gaps, and opportunities, with the aim of supporting the private sector, diversifying the economy, and improving access to regional and international markets.
