Visit to Swiss HQ to Review Grain Silos Project

By John Lee.

Five grain storage silos are being built across Iraq by Switzerland-based Bühler, covering the provinces of Najaf, Anbar, Muthanna, Wasit, and Kirkuk. Bühler is responsible for the electromechanical works, while Samco is carrying out civil construction.

Minister of Trade Mustafa Nizar Jumaa visited Bühler's headquarters in Switzerland, accompanied by Dr Haider Nouri Al-Karawi, Director General of the General Company for Grain Trading, to review progress on the project. During the visit, the minister examined the technical capabilities and modern technologies used by Bühler in manufacturing mills and grain storage systems.

Bühler, founded in 1860, specialises in electromechanical industries and grain milling and processing technologies. The company has previously delivered projects in Iraq, including the Mosul silo (1958) and the Basra silo (1961).
