The AMAR 'Ashty' Yazidi Women's Peace Choir, a symbol of resilience and cultural preservation, is set to embark on a groundbreaking tour of the United Kingdom. The tour will feature live performances and recording sessions, showcasing the rich heritage of the Yazidi community.
Comprising eight talented singers from the Khanke refugee camp near Dohuk in Iraq's Kurdistan Region, the choir represents the indomitable spirit of the Yazidi people. Since 2014, when ISIS attacks forced their displacement from Mount Sinjar, these women have found strength and solace in music.
For the past five years, the AMAR Foundation has provided crucial support to the choir through music education programs in the camp. The group has already garnered acclaim, performing at corporate events with the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) and at educational institutions, including Stirling Schools and the University of London in Erbil.
This tour aims to raise awareness about the ongoing plight of the Yazidi community. Currently, 195,000 Yazidis remain in camps across the Kurdistan Region, unable to return to their homes in Sinjar due to security concerns and lack of infrastructure.
Since 2014, the AMAR Foundation has been at the forefront of providing healthcare and education to the Yazidi community. This tour presents an opportunity for the public to support these ongoing efforts.
The AMAR Foundation invites the public to support this initiative by attending performances, sharing the Yazidis' story, and donating to continue providing essential healthcare and vocational training.
