SAP Discusses Iraq Digital Transformation Roadmap

By John Lee.

Iraq's Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, met with representatives from the German software firm SAP to discuss the company's proposed roadmap for Iraq's digital transformation.

Al-Sudani emphasized the government's commitment to advancing digitalization after decades of isolation due to wars and sanctions, which hindered Iraq's technological progress. He highlighted the formation of a high-level committee, chaired by himself, to prioritize and drive this transformation.

According to the PM's office, SAP's roadmap aims to enhance governance, boost economic growth, and improve public services through strategic digital technology implementation. It includes an assessment of Iraq's digital infrastructure, workforce skills, and strategic planning in critical sectors like healthcare and education.

The plan also focuses on improving cybersecurity, increasing digital awareness, and fostering citizen engagement, transparency, and job creation through smart city initiatives and improved infrastructure.
