A ceremony in London marked the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Iraqi public and private sector entities and British companies and institutions.
The event was attended by senior Iraqi officials, including Deputy Prime Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Oil.
Key agreements included:
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Public Works / General Water Directorate and IHS Consulting for conducting pilot studies towards a Comprehensive Water Agreement.
- An MoU between the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) and Standard Chartered Bank.
- An MoU between Al-Rida Group and the British firm James Cubitt & Partners for the Basra Water Project.
- A contract with the British company KEPPT for the supply of ammonia, forming part of the Black Urea Project for the Iraqi private sector.
- An MoU with Jaguar Land Rover to establish a branch in Basra Province.
- An MoU concerning a Basra water desalination project.
- Noor Al-Hilal Iraqi Company signed an MoU for the establishment of chlorine and soda factories.
- Najah Al Mustathmer Iraqi Company signed another MoU for the supply of chlorine and soda.
- An MoU signed between Al-Ma'moun University College and SOAS University of London, focusing on educational cooperation and the exchange of academic missions. This agreement marks the first time a private Iraqi university has entered into an economic and academic partnership with a prestigious British university.
