The Ministry of Communications of Iraq, under the supervision of Minister Dr. Hayam Al-Yasiri, has signed a partnership agreement with DIL Technology to establish Iraq as a unified transit corridor for international communications, running from from Al-Faw to Ibrahim Al-Khalil.
The deal, the first of its kind, was signed between the General Company for Communications and Informatics and DIL Technology, licensed by the Kurdistan Region.
Minister Al-Yasiri highlighted that the agreement is a strategic step towards making Iraq a global transit hub, competing with maritime routes such as the Suez Canal, by offering a safer, shorter, and more reliable passage.
The move is expected to boost Iraq's non-oil revenue and enhance its position as a critical connectivity point between Europe and the wider world.
