Fragile accord sees resumption of oil exports from Iraqi Kurdistan
Iraqi federal authorities and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) are celebrating an agreement to resume oil exports via Turkey after a two-and-a-half year halt.
The accord allows crude pumped in Iraqi Kurdistan to flow northwards under federal oversight-an apparent precondition to settle longstanding disputes over civil servant pay in the semi-autonomous region.
However, the arrangement is fragile, with observers warning that as-yet unveiled [sic] details could see the accord unravel.
