Uzbekistan-Iraq Investment and Business Forum

The Uzbekistan-Iraq Investment and Business Forum was held in Tashkent on January 14, 2026, bringing together the business communities of Uzbekistan and Iraq for the first large-scale platform of its kind.

The forum was attended by more than 300 entrepreneurs and representatives of sectoral organisations from both countries. Participants included Iraq's Minister of Trade, Atir Dawood Al-Ghurairi, senior officials from the National Investment Commission (NIC) and the Iraqi Economic Council, as well as the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Davron Vakhabov.

The event marked the second business forum in the history of Uzbek-Iraqi business cooperation. The first forum was held in Baghdad in December 2025, reflecting a continued effort to move from initial contacts toward the practical implementation of joint trade, economic and investment initiatives.

Discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade, diversifying trade turnover, and identifying priority sectors for cooperation. Areas highlighted as offering strong potential included:

  • Pharmaceuticals and medical equipment
  • Construction materials
  • Agriculture, food production, and processing
  • Electrical engineering and cable products
  • Automotive industries and components
  • Textiles, furniture, and light industry goods
  • Industrial equipment and joint manufacturing projects

The forum also featured a signing ceremony for memorandums of understanding and commercial agreements, followed by B2B meetings that allowed companies to discuss specific projects, export-import opportunities, and long-term partnership models.
