Iraq's Oil Exploration Company has reported significant progress on a two-dimensional seismic survey programme north of Fallujah in Anbar province.
The project, conducted for Midland Oil Company, forms part of the Ministry of Oil's plans to expand geological and geophysical data to support oil and gas exploration.
According to the company, more than 98 percent of the programme has been completed, with:
- 1,775.55 km of seismic lines executed out of a planned 1,809.65 km;
- 36,193 energy points recorded as of 25 February 2026.
Field work began on 23 May 2025. The company said the programme area was divided into three sections due to operational challenges, including agricultural terrain and the presence of multiple rivers and streams.
The survey is intended to support exploration studies and help identify potential oil and gas structures in the region.
