General Directorate of Industrial Development (GDID), part of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has issued 230 establishment licences for new industrial projects in February, covering sectors including food, chemical, metal, construction, textile and engineering industries.
According to Director General Ali Ibrahim Janaan, the licences were distributed across multiple provinces, with the highest numbers recorded in:
- Baghdad: 66 licences
- Nineveh: 26 licences
- Anbar: 24 licences
- Basra: 23 licences
Additional licences were issued across Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Babil, Karbala, Dhi Qar, Najaf, Diyala, Wasit, Sulaymaniyah, Diwaniyah, Erbil, Maysan and Muthanna.
The directorate also issued 43 certificates of completion for industrial projects that met legal requirements under the Industrial Investment Law No. 20 of 1998.
Other services provided during the month included:
- Renewal of industrial IDs and reactivation of licences
- Electronic field inspections to monitor project compliance
The ministry said these measures aim to encourage industrial investment, support private sector growth, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
