A 44,000-tonne shipment of American rice has arrived at the Jordanian port of Aqaba aboard the vessel Equinox Dream (pictured), according to Iraq's General Company for Food Commodities Trading.
The company said the shipment arrived despite difficult maritime conditions stemming from regional security challenges affecting shipping in the area.
Engineer Lama Hashim Al-Musawi, Director General of the General Company for Food Commodities Trading, said the company is continuing to supply food basket and social welfare items in line with its marketing plan for 2026. He added that the company is coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure materials reach warehouses across all Iraqi governorates and distribution branches without delay.
