Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has received a formal invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to visit Tokyo. The invitation was conveyed by Japan's Ambassador to Iraq, Akiro Endo, during a meeting at the Prime Minister's office.
Al-Zaidi welcomed the invitation and affirmed the importance of Iraq-Japan relations, according to the Prime Minister's Office, expressing Iraq's commitment to developing bilateral ties across investment, energy, technology, and development sectors. He called on Japanese companies to expand their presence and invest in Iraq's development sectors.
Ambassador Endo said the visit would open broader avenues for bilateral cooperation, and noted that Iraq's new government was seeing economic growth and improvements in the investment climate, citing security and economic stability, anti-corruption measures, and economic policies aimed at attracting investment.
