The General Company for the Pharmaceutical Industry and Medical Supplies in Samarra has produced the broad-spectrum antibiotic moxifloxacin for the first time, adding it to its range of pharmaceutical products.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the drug is used to treat a range of bacterial infections in adults, including pneumonia, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, acute sinusitis, and skin and soft-tissue infections.
Mohammed Abdul Qadir Al-Nuaimi, the company's director general, said the production of moxifloxacin is intended to help meet the needs of the Ministry of Health and the domestic market, reduce reliance on imported medicines, and strengthen local pharmaceutical manufacturing.
