Two new operations centres and an electronic gas movement tracking system have been launched at the General Company for Gas Filling and Services in Baghdad, as part of the Ministry of Oil's digital transformation programme.
According to the Ministry of Oil, a Security Operations Centre (SOC) and a Technology Operations Centre (TOC) were inaugurated at the company's Information and Communications Technology Department, along with the official launch of an electronic liquid gas movement system.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Oil for Gas Affairs, Dr. Izzat Sabir Ismail, the Minister of Oil's adviser for energy affairs, Dr. Abdul-Baqi Khalaf Ali, and the company's Director General, Anmar Ali Hussein.
The SOC is responsible for monitoring the digital environment and detecting and responding to cybersecurity threats, while the TOC oversees infrastructure, systems and technical services to ensure operational continuity and efficiency.
Both centres were developed by the company's in-house technical staff under the supervision of ICT Department head Mohammed Saad Al-Shamri, without external contracts or additional cost. According to the Ministry of Oil, the company's technical staff have developed 39 software systems using modern programming languages and technologies, also at no external cost.
The electronic liquid gas movement system provides real-time data, historical reports and inventory indicators - including strategic reserves - covering gas receipt and distribution operations at the company's Baghdad headquarters and its storage depots across various governorates.
