A series of investment proposals covering smart cities, digital infrastructure, healthcare and tourism were discussed at a meeting between Iraq's National Investment Commission (NIC) and members of the Iraqi-French Business Council, along with representatives of companies Abraj Al-Maamura, Sawa and Enkidu.
The meeting was chaired by Adel Dakhil Muhammad al-Yasiri, head of the NIC, and attended by the director-general of the Commission's Economic Department.
According to the NIC, discussions covered three main areas:
- A proposal by Sawa to establish a specialist health centre offering services including water births, autism treatment and ophthalmology, as well as the introduction of helicopter air ambulance services
- Plans by Enkidu to provide digital infrastructure for new cities, including Al-Jawahiri Residential City, along with fibre optic and data centre projects in coordination with the Ministry of Communications
- A proposal to develop a "Mini Baghdad City" project as a tourist and educational destination, to be coordinated with international organisations, with the NIC directed to approach Baghdad Municipality regarding investment in a planetarium
Administrative and financial procedures and investment licences relating to the Abraj Al-Maamura project were also reviewed.
